Our Beliefs

Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. Hebrews 9:28

Our Basic Beliefs represent the most the fundamental and foundational beliefs of Christian doctrine. They capture the basic contours of Christian theology.

The Gospel

The gospel is good news, really good news. It is God’s grace invading the darkness of this world. It is woven throughout the story of creation, the fall of man, and ultimately realized through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christ’s crucifixion is the heart of the gospel. His resurrection is the power of the gospel. His ascension is the glory of the gospel.

God

We believe in the One true God, the Eternal King. He is infinite, unchangeable, perfect in holiness, wisdom, goodness, justice, power and love. He is the creator and sustainer of all things and from all eternity exists as the only Living and True God in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory.
Genesis 1:1-3, I John 5:7, Galatians 4:6, Matthew 28:19, I Timothy 1:17

Christ

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His atoning death through his shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and his personal return in power and glory.
Isaiah 7:14, Colossians 1:13-19, John1:1-3, Luke 1:26-38

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is our abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all of the biblical gifts of the Spirit.
Job 26:13, John 16:13-15, I Corinthians 12:4-11

Scripture

We believe that the Holy Spirit inspired the human writers of Scripture so that the Bible is without error. We receive the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments as our final, absolute authority, in both doctrine and conduct.
Psalm 138:2, II Timothy 3:15-17, Hebrews 4:12

Man

We believe that God created mankind (male and female) in His image, for relationship with Himself, as well as to govern the earth. Due to the fall of Adam, creation now experiences the consequences and effects of Adam’s original sin. Human beings are born in sin, and are subject to God’s just judgment of death.
Genesis 1:26-28, Romans 5:17-18

Salvation

We believe that Salvation is by grace through faith in the sacrifice and victory of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. Salvation cannot be earned by any amount of good works or human effort.
Psalm 18:46, Ephesians 2:8, Acts 4:12

The Church

We believe in the one, blood redeemed, universal Church. All who repent of their sins and confess Jesus as Lord and Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and form the living Body of Christ, of which He is the head and of which we are all members.
Matthew 16:1, I Corinthians 1:2, Colossians 1:18

The Kingdom &
Christ’s Return

We believe that God’s kingdom has come in the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, that it continues to come in the ministry of the Spirit through the Church, and that it will be consummated in the glorious, visible and triumphant appearing of Christ – His return to the earth as King.
Isaiah 9:6-7, Matthew 3:2, Revelation 1:7
